Final Reflection
Experience
When I first saw the module outline to get an insight of what I'll be going through within these 12 weeks, I felt that my self-confidence has degraded HAHAHAHA (pardon me Sir) initially because of the first project assigned which is to come up with 16 visuals within just 3 weeks and also fear of screwing up in the rest of the projects. The negativity came spread to my mind in many different ways, but at the end of the week to submission of the projects, here I am. This module has taught me not to only improve myself academically but also myself - I learned how to manage my time more properly and have a better self-control.
I would say I experience a lot from the exercises conducted, as I get to know how to staple bind a book, its folding, placement of pages, etc. I also get to experience the ups and downs in this module; the hecticness to produce 16 visuals in only couple of weeks, getting my visuals approved, get our book done in approximately 3 weeks, rework my kerning, letterspacing, rejected in my first set of animations of e-book, rework my kerning, letterspacing (again), adapting the assets we have from the book to 3 different platforms. All of the projects wouldn't come out as better without instructions and feedbacks from the lecturer who helped me a lot towards all of the projects and also help from my friends.
To conclude, I think I mentioned this many times in my previous reflections but this module is a tough, short one but worth the process. To Mr Vinod and my classmates, we did it!!
Observation
I observed that publishing is another module that we need to look after - it is important as it can be applied in many different ways - book, ebooks, typography, print media, and also it links to assignments conducted in different modules too - e-brandbook from branding, expressive essay from design studies, etc. I observed that I see books or prints nowadays in a more detailed manner too, I somehow pay attention to its grids, letter spacing, kerning, its layout too. All in all, I observe my views towards these aspects has changed ever since I learned this module.
Findings
After looking through the works I've done, I found myself still lacking especially in typography - kerning and letterspacing mostly - I should've pay more attention to that, also lack of expression and interaction to the visuals I first came up with. Lack of exploration of layouts too. Not to mention I shall take my illustrations in a more careful manner too as some of the visuals turned out pixelated - I learned that I need to pay attention on the dpis on the scanner I scanned into to avoid these problems. Although, I found that I can improve if I am willing to learn.
