Project 1 : Instructional Infographic

Instructions

The Brief:

You are to create a series of infographics based on the following:
Card game (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Card_game#Types)

Or

Cooking recipe (http://allrecipes.com)

These infographics present complex information quickly and clearly, wish symbols charts and diagrams. With an information graphic, computer scientists, mathematicians, and statisticians develop and communicate concepts using a single symbol to process information. Your job is to transmit a set of instructions and at the same time educate the audience. Infographics should be fun, it should simplify the context, while representing information graphically.

Because “A picture is worth a thousand words”. Yours should reflect the following:
• To transmit or communicate a message.
• To present large amounts of information in a compact and easy to understand way.
• To reveal the data. Discovering cause-effect relations, knowing what’s happening.
• To periodically monitor the evolution of certain parameters.
you will develop an infographic to communicate a concept, topic or idea. The infographic should take viewer visually through information you want them to learn or know. Based on your infographic the audience should be able to learn through viewing and interpreting the various graphical information and text.

You will be required to evaluate what parts of the topic, concept, or idea are most important to tell/demonstrate and ask how you would represent each piece of information best. You will also decide how to graphically represent the most salient facts about your topic, concept or idea for student learning. This includes the finishing outcome which could be a slick animation or even a rough stop motion.

Requirement:

You will need to reflect the following (assessment criteria):

Practical
(After effects / adobe premiere / adobe animate / stop motion)
• Interface and Pre-compositions
• Keyframe concept
• Scripting and parenting
• Graph, charts and diagrams
• Animation principles

Theoretical
(Information Design Framework)
• Information type
• Device
• Principles (LATCH etc)
• Aesthetics

Progressions
To start up the project, I went through the websites given to pick the topic of my choice. I then finalised it as an apple pie recipe named Chef John's Easy Apple Pie. Styling References
Now that I found the one I'm doing, next thing to do is to find references to guide myself.

Storyboard
As stated by the lecturer, storyboards are important to help and guide you to execute your idea whether in doing .gifs or the video itself. With this, I made my own and showed the lecturer to get some feedbacks and proceed to the execution.

Reflection
Finally, the very first project. The project was informed as the lecturer taught us a new software, Adobe Animate. It was cool that I was considering myself to have it in many parts of my animations but I'd say my time management wasn't at its best that I ended up have it in a scene or two instead. Although, it was great especially when I saw it move - feels like the frame-to-frame process was finally paid off.

The requirements weren't a little that not only we animate the infographic video but also the posters - not one but four. I personally feel that it could be done better - :( HAHA i'm just not satisfied. Overall, It was another great experience.
