Assignment 1 : Event Poster, Assignment 2A : Microsite Mockup

Instructions

Assignment 2A – Group Project to produce an event promotional Microsite Mockup

The Brief
Produce an original event’s Microsite Mockup Design

Duration of Assignment
2 Weeks

DEADLINE
Week 4

Description and requirements
Produce a Microsite Mockup in digital format for a fictional event. You may use the same event from your Assignment 1, which must be agreed as the group choice. The event of choice must have enough depth and scope to provide for various promotional gimmicks, be it on-ground, online or in-app implementations.
The Microsite Mockup should adhere to industry standard web grid system and need not involve coding. A digital composition is expected as the end result detailing every interactive and navigation function with informed rationalization of design and user experience.
You are encouraged to be as original as possible in your design and idea conceptualization.

Submission
The Microsite Mockup must be submitted in .psd format together with the A4 design journal documenting every interactive and navigation function with informed rationalization of design and user experience. As this is a partial submission, please compile all 3 parts (Assignment 2A and B) before submitting officially.

Progressions

Event Poster
As consulted, I began to execute the movie poster - I came up with 3 different versions.

Mr. Mike encouraged me to change the girl's picture because she is a well-known worldwide martial arts fighter that it won't look believable to be attached as a movie poster -  and suggested me to find the girl's picture which makes an interaction with the guy too - like how the girl is looking at the guy. He commented that the illustrations will make the storyline too predictable that their presence is just not necessary and to change the typeface of the tagline and characters name.

I focused on the position of the girls this time and came up with 3 different girls - I personally liked the second because her expression shows the arrogance and the 'bossy' kind of feel - the lecturer felt the same too - however he prefered it to be placed like how the first version is - as the position would make more sense as the interactiveness between the two image is more shown.

Mr.Mike also said that the poster could be filled with one more image to fill up the white space above the guy - and be mindful about the lighting and its details to make it as real as an actual movie poster. The positioning of the type could be done better too.

I was concerning about the illustrations part as it was proposed as the styling of the poster at first, but in the end it was told to be unnecessary - "the styling should reflect the story and if it doesn't, it's not necessary." so as consulted, the finalised visual references are as follows :

Microsite Project
I teamed up with Vinessa, Jacky, Jason and Kahyee for this project. This week is deciding which theme to choose for the second project based from one of our posters' theme - and we decided to have Jacky's game poster, Overgrowth, as our theme.

Genre: Open world, Action, fantasy

Synopsis: Hero exists in a polluted/dystopian world and wishes to restore the world to a lush untouched state. Hero is a personification of the forces of nature. The world he exists in is one that has been taken over by industrial sites, factories and is almost barren. The player will be given skills that will allow them to choose their own play-style and they will be taking down polluted sites and doing quests.

Mr. Mike was to be okay with it, and said we are good to go.
